listen ...

I take Fridays off so am able to sleep in for a half hour extra. I lazily breathe in the morning and enjoy the slow start. From my original normal waking time I am aware that the dogs are a little restless. Sage is usually so subtle with her communicating to get me up. She will simply sit at my bed side and stare me down. Occasionally offering a high pitch quiet request. This morning she was a little more impatient. I was probably slower off the mark.  She tried her subtlety to no response. She jumped up behind me, lay down and pushed all four legs onto my back to urge me off the bed. That set my day off with a giggle. I love it when the animals make their wishes clear.

Then I realise - that is usually what they are doing all the time. We simply need to tune in better. I could have mistaken Sage's request for an inconvenient stretch. I know however that it is not so. I showed people through the aquarium the other day and was amazed that at times I had to point out to them how the fish were interacting with us through the glass. Following us if we changed direction. Looking at us and paying close attention to what was unfamiliar in some cases and familiar in others.
My friend told me a heart rendering story that demonstrates how we are more connected than we think we are. She has humming birds nesting on her patio in a chandelier. The humans in her home were sitting just inside the home adjacent to the patio and noted that they may have been disturbing the bird as it was shouting at the window. It was a sad realisation, when they later realised that the bird asking for help. It's baby on learning to fly had fallen in the pond and sadly drowned. My friend was devastated that she did not understand the birds plea for help. In spite of the accident the birds continued to nest in the crystal light fitting. The celebration of their continued loyalty to my friend was enhanced when they had another chick. This time there were no risky flight lessons over the pond. The chick was taught to fly inside my frineds home while all humans were present.
We are in such a special time in human consciousness. Our world's are becoming more and more entwined with the animal kingdom. Humans have built on sacred natural ground. Now we have to learn to acknowledge our fellow planet dwellers. We need to work out sensitive ways to understand their dialogue. We need to work towards sharing this planet with all the other sentient beings that make up our community.
Listen. Watch. Sense. Feel. It is such magical fun to be a part of such a rich and diverse community.

Morning Sage😙🐾 and thank you

In memory of my mother

My mum passed when I was 23. I never really had the opportunity to come back home to a respectful relationship with her after my teenage rebellious tribulations and assaults on her goodwill. So this blog is to honour and thank her for her contribution to my love for  nature.  She was an avid bird watcher and had dreams of travelling through the bush. I have many memories of her being fascinated by animals on our weekend getaways to the Kruger National Park.  My first memory of her was her riding a horse called Thunder. That is a beautiful memory and the name of the horse is as mystical and awe inspiring as her impact on who I am in relationship with animals.  She was fearless. And always confident that all would be well. She had faith in my animal relationships always. As a very young child I was given the task on many occasions to hand rear orphan wildlife and pets. She never micro managed the process but would offer helpful insight that came naturally to her.  The animals in our home

Reflections and projections

When they judge or throw stones (the people) - grace makes us the blank screen or the still water onto which they can see themselves and take personal account for their actions. When we train animals can we be that clear. So as to wisely be and act rather than contest and fight for what we want🥰

South American Penguin update - Promises
